This evidence-based campaign was developed primarily from research undertaken by Curtin University into people’s perceptions of mental health and the behaviours they believed protected and promoted good mental health. The campaign is directed by Mentally Healthy WA at Curtin University, and implemented through health services, local governments, women’s health services and not-for-profit groups.”
“I completed this course a few months back. Certainly worthwhile as I am working in the natural health industry with people and their personal and emotional issues. Also very helpful with identifying issues with family, friends or work colleagues. I highly recommend this course it is very well put together and easy to understand. Sydel is an excellent lecturer/teacher and really knows her stuff.”
“Through the mhfa training I have learned how to assist individuals experiencing mental health crisis of many types. As a research psychologist working with children who suffer with learning disabilities, I now feel like I am equipped to assist them with the issues and crises they may experience throughout their life. This component of my services for children and their families was missing.”
Liz Western: Mother, Manager.
“I highly recommend the Mental Health First Aid training for anyone who has responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of others, whether in a workplace or in group or team situations.
Sydel is an experienced and empathetic trainer, with a life experience that enriches the nationally accredited training. Sydel makes the training and information accessible and relevant to anyone seeking the skills to make a difference to those with mental health issues. The information, while often confronting, when put into the context of mental health first aid with Sydel’s gentle and experienced approach, shifts into a skills set readily available to the learner.
I feel the training has benefitted and added to my management skills, and will be of benefit in both family and work situations. The more people who do this training, the better we can shift the social attitudes to mental health, and become a more inclusive and understanding community.”
Olivia Matthews, mother, teacher: –
As a mother and teacher I found this course extremely informational and practical and found that I was immediately utilizing the strategies in my personal and professional life. Sydel is an excellent presenter and her commitment and passion for this area is inspiring.
Ellen de Jong, Mother and Health Coordinator: Tenix Marine
The MHFA course has helped to enable me to identify and assist with the mental health problems of our workers. I recommend this course to all people who work closely with their workers e.g. HR, OHS & E dept. management.
Susie Ascott- Life Coach and Yoga Teacher
Thank you for a very enjoyable day. You attracted a great group of people. You created an ideal learning environment and I know I learnt heaps. For me, it was SO wonderful to be amongst lively, respectful, interested and interesting people.
Carolyn Verhoef ( Profressional Organiser)
“Such a hugely valuable course I can highly recommend Sydel’s training ”
Susan Jane Morrison nurse/midwife/Bowan therapist
I found the MHFA course to be valuable and insightful, exploring the myths and taboos of mental health. Communication skills and role-play assisted me in identifying problems and planning appropriate action. The MHFA course covered areas omitted in my nursing education and assisted me in my daily life. At the time of doing the course a family member was experiencing a mental health crisis. What I gained from doing the course helped me in adjusting and I was able to share the information with other family members.
Margaret Wilcocks Director Greenwood Yoga Centre
“I strongly recommend this course to every parent, employer, employee, sporting manager and any person interested in helping others and learning about the warning signs and assistance available for people with Depression and Suicide tendencies, Anxiety disorders, Psychosis and Substance use disorders. I have decided that I will include this MHFA course in the forthcoming yoga teacher-training course, as I sincerely believe that it is a necessary qualification for anyone in a position of being responsible for a group of people. Sydel is a very polished presenter and was extremely generous in providing us all with enormous amounts of information and referral resources.”
“The Mental Health First Aid training course increased my confidence to approach and support a person who may be acutely or moderately experiencing Mental Health issues. The skills on how to approach, support and encourage someone to seek professional and personal support networks, clarified how to take a proactive role in a variety of situations. I highly recommend this course.” Treana Jones Yoga Teacher

We so excited that Cat will be in Perth Early Feb.
Join Cat for her signature transformational Biodynamic Yin to explore the power of the invisible through Yin yoga, subtle energetics, biodynamic craniosacral therapy, shamanic energetics, and shamanic dreaming.

Biodynamic Yin is the practice of Yin (longer-held passive poses that influence the fascia and energy lines of the body) interwoven with the awareness and wisdom of biodynamic craniosacral therapy, working with the chakras, subtle energy and the auric field. This is your opportunity to use your ability to sense inward: feeling, visioning, and hearing and connect with yourself in a deeper and multi-dimensional level.
While holding poses for longer periods, we will work with the “Field” and with focus, breath work and awareness on the subtle and active passivity, learning how to unwind and release the subtle undercurrents that define us. You learn how to trust your sensitivity and sense your own unique energetic field (as no one’s energetic bodies are exactly the same).
You will also sense the blockages in your body on emotional, karmic, ancestral, and other levels and how to dissolve them through using breath, focus, connecting to the witness and using intention. We will be practicing in a space in which the “Field” is held – the potent life force that exists within all of us – and it’s through the settling down of ourselves and remembering that we can bring our awareness back to this.
We see the power that occurs in “doing nothing” and deeply relaxing, on being the witness and seeing how the body has its own potential to heal itself once its inherent wholeness is recognized. We understand the power of our own personal presence, how the consciousness and integration in our own field influences others, and recognize the transformation that occurs for everyone when we ourselves remember who we truly are.
Leave feeling grounded, deeply nourished, relaxed, and whole.
This immersion is perfect for you if:
You’re new to Yin and want to experience something new
You’re hungering for a deeper inward experience
You’re ready to trust the power of your own intuition
You want to refine the power of your own sensitivity
You’re interested in the world of subtle energy
You’re already a yoga teacher who’s trained in yin and want a different perspective.
In this Immersion we will have daily yin practices as well experiential discussions exploring:
Our own energy body
The importance of feeling
How our bodies store tension and pain and how to unwind it
The power of being the witness
The power of presence
NOTE: This Immersion is Limited to 20 attendees so early booking is recommended to secure a place.
There will be in addition a Friday evening Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra short workshop event coming.
